Traveling PerArts Camp

The Traveling Performing Arts Camp has been a big hit the last two years. We've decided to alternate the 7 Day Camp and Two Week Camp year to year, this summer will be 7 days (Sunday to Sunday) and next summer Travel PerArts will be 2 weeks.

Campers put a musical together from start to finish and then they will hit the road performing the show in a variety of places throughout our synods. 

THIS YEAR the final show will be at 9:45am Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Strasburg, Virginia. Families will be provided with a performance list and are invited to attend any of their shows. Pick up for this camp will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Strasburg by 1pm (performers will be encouraged to stay for 11am worship).

Each summer we send a number of our summer staff to our sister camp, Hungry Mother, in Marion, VA to provide a summer camp for youth in that general area. We have scheduled this summer's Travel PerArts camp to be opposite that week, meaning they will be the only camp on Caroline Furnace that week. This will give them lots of flexibility with their rehearsal and camp activities, but it will also limit some of the activities.

With this in mind, we are planning to take them to Hungry Mother in time to perform for the campers there and then procede back to camp performing along the way.

Adventure Skits & Songs

Adventure Skits & Songs is a new version of Performing Arts Camp. Anita Smallin, our year round Program Director, will be working with these campers on vocal skills and directing them in some skits. There will also be dance breaks, Karoke stops and drama games for these performers to practice their skills.

They will have opportunities to perform at campfire and there will be a brief performance during Friday afternoon's closing.

Adventure Skits & Songs campers will be staying in the Sukkah Village and will have one overnight trip during their week.

Pioneer Skits & Songs

August 5-10
enter grades 4-6

Pioneer Skits & Songs is a new version of Performing Arts Camp. In an effort to break up the ages and to expand our music and drama offerings, we are trying something new. These campers will work on vocal skills and learn some drama techniques. They will practice and perform for one of our campfires AND they will also have a performance for the Friday afternoon closing.

Pioneer Skits & Songs campers will stay in the Cabin Village and practice in the Upper Room. In addition to the drama games, dance breaks, story time and other theater activities; they will also be participating in many normal camp activities, so don't forget to pack shoes for creekwalking!
