Leadership Reading Retreat
We are inviting all church leadership to join us prior to the start of Lent for a time of relaxation, recharging, and the chance to read by the fire as you prepare your heart and mind for the season of Lent. This retreat will be hosted in the Farmhouse with opportunity for fellowship or for personal retreat and preparation. We'll see you there!
Paul Bunyan Work Weekend
Save the date for a weekend of work projects, fellowship, and a great sense of accomplishment! This work weekend is open to everyone (not just men!). No chainsaw experience required - other roles include moving/loading cut sections, clearing brush, chipping limbs, running the log splitter, and stacking firewood. Paul Bunyan is hosted in either the Farmhouse or Cabin Village, and includes scratch made meals, friendship, campfires, and more!

Sun Pavilion Celebration
Save the date for a weekend of celebration as we open our new solar pavilion! Our weekend will begin with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony followed by a Bluegrass Worship at 11am in the Pavilion. Following worship we’ll provide lunch while recognizing our amazing donors and friends with a small token of our appreciation. For those who want to stick around, we’ll make s’mores, create spring crafts, and go on a property hike. Stay the whole weekend, or just come for the day!

Racial Healing Initiative Retreat
Save the date for our RHI retreat this coming November. The RHI Retreat will be hosted in the Farmhouse and includes scratch made meals, fellowship, programming, learning, and more!
Seeds & Spiritual Sprouts Retreat
How are we related to each other and the land itself? Join us for a Hybrid Weekend Retreat (in person or virtually). This fall retreat invites reflection and participation on the relationship between humans, other animals, trees, plants, and all earth elements through the indigenous principle “we are all related.” We are excited to have in person facilitator Nellie Adkins, a local friend and educator who will share the history of our Virginia relatives, seeds, and our land. This will be a weekend of spiritual reflection time, a Seder service, sharing of food made with ingredients from ancient seeds, and some local wine/cider tasting. On a national level we will also connect virtually with Diane Wilson, award winning author of the 2021 novel, The Seed Keeper.

Spring Paul Bunyan Weekend
Pack your chainsaw and work gloves - come spend a weekend at camp, dropping trees, splitting wood, and chipping mulch! Priorities are dead and downed trees near structures, along the camp roads, and affecting the field and trails (trees are pre-marked and some will be pre-dropped). Paul Bunyan Weekend is hosted in the heated Cabin Village and meals are provided Saturday breakfast to Sunday breakfast. No cost for lodging/meals. This work weekend is open to everyone (not just men!). No chainsaw experience required - other roles include moving/loading cut sections, clearing brush, chipping limbs, running the log splitter, and stacking firewood.
BeerReformation Retreat
Join us for a weekend of fellowship and renewal, paired with the art of beer brewing. We'll follow our "Earn your Beer" hike with a visit to a local brewery, then bottle a special Caroline Furnace recipe to take home. Meals, lodging, and Saturday transportation included.

Run4Camp 5k
Join us as we walk or run a 5K to benefit the year-round ministry of Caroline Furnace from Oct 24 - Nov 14. You can complete your walk or run in your own neighborhood or gym at your own pace and share images or videos with us along the way. On Nov 14 we will host an in-person run on property.
Fall Adventure Weekend
Come on your own, bring your family, or organize a group and explore the Shenandoah Valley! We'll provide lodging and meals in the Cabin Village (cabins are heated) and help you plan your adventures. During warm weather, nearby activities may include river canoeing, horseback riding, hiking, biking, and fishing. In the winter, we're just under an hour from skiing, snowboarding, and tubing at Massanutten and Bryce Resorts - plus, winter hikes in Fort Valley are spectacular. Year round, we have some great breweries and wineries nearby, plus apple orchards, farm tours, antiquing, and more.

Join us for a pericope study of the Gospel texts for Advent. We'll read a contemporary commentary on the text and then discuss. Pastors and lay leaders are encouraged to participate. All are welcome! Hybrid in-person/virtual options will be available; stay tuned for more details. The Pre-Advent Retreat will be hosted in the Farmhouse.
Fall Quiet Days
10am to 2pm will be dedicated to calming, quieting, centering reflection. We'll begin with orientation and meditation in the Upper Room led by Rev. Heidi David-Young, then conclude in the same way. Bring lunch to eat at your leisure; no cost to participate and no RSVP needed.

Grab your work gloves and come spend Spring Break at camp; we need your help with the Moyer Lodge and Farmhouse upgrades! This is a large-scale project and many hands make light(er) work. Lodging and meals are provided for the length of your stay - come for a day or stay for both weeks. There is no cost to participate, but an option is available during registration to help fund the project. No skill required. Spring Break Work Weeks are for all ages, not just college students. Invite your friends!

BBQ PICNIC CELEBRATION
Join us in celebrating the Caroline Furnace community! We will provide a BBQ picnic dinner, worship, time outdoors, and live music. No cost to participate. Feel free to bring games, activities, fishing poles, and musical instruments. Overnight lodging and camping is available by household; book at least 14 days in advance. Day guest RSVP is requested by May 15. RSVP online here or call (540) 449-0012.

Play, Pray, Play
Come find renewal in and through God's creation! Begin with a day of play: hiking, fishing, canoeing, creekwalking, playing gagaball, crafting and more. We'll begin the day with interactive, camp-like worship and Bible study, and end with a campfire. Day 2 is set aside as a Day of Prayer - time for silent meditation, praying the labyrinth, reading, and contemplation. We'll wrap up the retreat with another day of play: hiking, fishing, canoeing, creekwalking, playing gagaball, crafting and more. Local horseback riding, wineries, and river trips may be available on the play days as well at additional cost.
Lodging is modern-rustic and scratch-made meals are provided Tuesday lunch through Thursday lunch. Lodging and meals will be in the Cabin Village.
