Meet our Staff!
Tom joins us as past president of the Board of Directors, a parent of former campers and a counselor, and a very active member of the Caroline Furnace family. He has a vibrant faith, deeply rooted sense of hospitality, and a solid background in organizational
structure, property care, and building relationships. His experiences as a Sunday School teacher, youth advisor, congregational council president, and Boy Scout leader are supplemented by his professional background of 20 years in the National Guard and 12 years in the consulting industry. Tom describes this role as his "dream job". While you're here, ask about his slag dance!
Director of Programs
Monica's connection with Caroline Furnace began when she was a counselor in 2012. Monica grew up attending and working at many different camps all along the east coast. She has over ten years of experience in Camp and Retreat Ministries, and additional
experience in the care and education of children. She earned her BA in Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education from Brevard College. Monica loves to share her love of the outdoors with others. She enjoys being outside in her hammock with her husband, Tommy, reading a good book, and throwing the ball for their dog River.
Rev. Heidi David-Young
Director of Guest Services Outreach & Resource Development
Heidi served as a member of our Board of Directors and a Summer Camp Chaplain before joining our staff. She and her husband met during seminary on a trip to Israel. She is on leave from call and regularly serves as a supply pastor in the Shenandoah Valley.
Heidi brings many gifts to the team and is skilled in resource development, grant writing, donor relations, and retreat planning, in addition to the spiritual gifts that come with being a rostered leader.

Lee Ann deeply believes that food is love shown tangibly. She has shared her love and talents through many meals, for groups both large and small.
She is devoted to the craft involved in creating a meal, from building menus and honing techniques, to practicing food safety and making sure there is plenty to go around. Paired with Lee Ann's 20 years as a special needs teacher, her passions for outdoor ministry and hospitality shine through in her work.
LuAnn specializes in accounting, payroll and human resources, and has nearly 20 years of experience. She loves the Shenandoah Valley where she calls home. When LuAnn isn't at Caroline Furnace, she's busy caring for her many dogs and horses.
