Meet your Summer 2025 Staff!

Summer Camp is just around the corner and we cannot wait to meet you all! Here are some of the friendly faces you might see. Stay tuned as we introduce the rest of our staff before the summer camp season begins!



Monica Springman, Program Director

Monica's connection with Caroline Furnace began when she was a counselor in 2012. Monica grew up attending and working at many different camps all along the east coast. She has over ten years of experience in Camp and Retreat Ministries, and additional experience in the care and education of children. . She enjoys being outside in her hammock with her husband, Tommy, reading a good book, and throwing the ball for their dog River.


Lindsay Owen, Program Director

Lindsay first started going to Caroline Furnace with her church growing up and has been a volunteer at summer camp for the past three years. Lindsay has been a youth director for the past five years and loves sharing her faith with others. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and running agility courses with her dog Lilo.




Ruthie Nutt, Camp Counselor, Leadership Team

Ruthie is a Caroline Furnace Alum from Garner, North Carolina. She is currently studying creative writing at Roanoke College, and has many hobbies that fill her time including tree-climbing, park and river cleanings, and writing bedtime stories for her radio show! She is so excited to be back on staff and back out in nature!





Finley Heaphy, Camp Counselor, Leadership Team

Finley is excited to return to our summer staff this summer! He is currently on a gap year taking time to travel where he's learned the importance of taking advantage of every opportunity available and enjoying every moment. Next year, he plans to begin his studies in environmental science. He can't wait to see the campers grow and overcome challenges throughout the week and is excited to see God in a different way through the nature and people around him.



Elexis Harf, Camp Counselor, Agriculture and Sustainability Intern

Elexis is from Lynchburg, VA, currently studying Environmental Science and Wildlife Biology at Bridgewater College. This will be her first time at Caroline Furnace, and she is very excited to meet some new people and make some new memories! She spends her free time going on walks by the river, writing her own stories, hiking and reading.


Grace Percy, Camp Counselor

Grace has been to camp as a camper, retreat guest, and a volunteer, and she is excited to now add summer staff to that list! Grace will be attending Roanoke College in the fall, majoring in Environmental studies! In her free time, she loves playing guitar, reading, hiking and painting too!She is looking forward to creating a stronger community, teaching others about the great outdoors and God's creation, making friends and singing camp songs!


Briana Brown, Camp Counselor

Briana has been to camp as both a camper and a retreat guest, and she is excited to spend the summer on staff! In the Fall, she will be attending the University of Virginia, and hopes to study the history of phycology. Outside of school, she enjoys hanging out with her cat, reading, thrifting, hiking, and anything musical theater. She's excited to make some friends, share her faith, and have lots of fun in the great outdoors.
